Let's start with a funny story. So im trying to find Sonic vs Lf2 and finally when I find it I come across here. I discovered theres an issue. I didn't bother to try and make an account but I was amused by the issue that's presented here. Then I noticed that one of MY sprites is being used in this, which I'm a good person and I really don't care but now I'd like to get into this problem. Now I'm not going to "bitch" about what's going on here so I'd like to tackle the problem another way because quite frankly I want it resolved. You, LyimFrozenFan01 have every right to be using Sonicf2 (i believe hes the maker) to use his sprites as long as they're drastically changed, and they are as I see. On one side the maker is wrong and is overreacting a bit and I do praise you for giving credit (most people don't. But that's where it ends. He has a point and I hope you can see it, you cant be posting his sprites for everyone else's use if he does not want to. You need to respect that. And please don't give me "oh I changed it though" because from what I see at least with these sprites are identical. Your other "lyim" sprites are completely legit however and is fine to be posted. It all comes down to, you may use his sprites for your own personal purposes and change them however you'd like to but the fact remains you can not DISTRIBUTE it if the owner does not want to. Now I'm trying to be reasonable here and I highly suggest taking down things that are highly associated with the owner of the sprites,Sonicf2. (your lyim sprites and whatnot are fine however so leave them be). I'd like both him and you to reach an agreement and for both to apologize to get this over with. I hope that you'll make the right decision and make it easier for all of us, thank you for taking your time to read all this.
I'm gonna agree with what you say in here. I'm personally completely fine if one animation is used only as reference, in a way you can study how animating works on yourself. On the drastically changed part, well... it depends on how you change it, it's mostly important when it's animation wise. On Iyim's case, there are some animations that he edited from Sonic vs LF2 in which the movement stays exactly the same, only edited into his fan character.
Animations like this one fav.me/d6vcv2h are a sample of wrongly using someone's animation, which is also a known issue in the art world itself (such as tracing or unauthorized use). So if Iyim wants to make an animation inspired on Sonic vs LF2's movement style or such, from my point of view, he would be better off just observing how the animation is done like rather than editing it. In my point of view, drastic changes to someone's animation is something more-so acceptable, although I don't endorse it either
Also, just like you, I'm hoping they could just reach an agreement, though Iyim didn't take sonicSF's demands of removing what he used of his work very lightly, and seeing how Iyim blocked him and is acting stubborn about this matter, seeing things getting done with nicely seems hard to happen right now.
whether you "allow" him to or not means nothing, you're at his mercy since he has the sprites, nothing you can do about it since you don't work at sega or have any claim to any of their characters, besides they're just pixels anyway, no big deal.
You do realize that whoever takes other people's work without permission could be easily reported to the dA staff and be suspended, right? So no, this iyim guy is at his mercy, not the other way around.
Someone could record Sonic vs LF2 as evidence for reporting it. Heck, even taking screenshots and showing it to the dA staff would be enough. I could do it myself right now, so get off your high horse, what's happening in here is still something wrong.
Recording a game, that many people have access to, have videos of it on youtube, and images of characters on DA, hmmmm what a strong case you have ( Sarcasm ). Like they'd do that for characters that belong to Sega.
